and funnily enough I’m celebrating by writing!
Although I’m currently working on a first draft of an Arthurian themed novel that’s been bouncing around in my head for years and now has decided its time has come I have also written something else today which I wanted to share.
This poem is only on the page at all because the National Writing Day organisers teamed up with author Dean Atta to create a #writeaway activity everyone could participate in. Basically the idea is that you grab a pen or other your phone or laptop and spend just 7 minutes freewriting on the theme “I feel most free when”. You can see Dean explaining the challenge on Twitter here.
I surprised myself both in the content and that it came out poem shaped:

I was, in fact, a very freeing exercise and I’m glad I joined in. I encourage everyone else to have a go too. You don’t have to share what you write if you don’t want to!
Great poem. I love the images of the burning sticks and the fences of judgment crumbling to ash. Liberating 🙂
