The Small Things Spreading Joy in March

I spent the start of month feeling very under the weather so some of the photos I shared were from rather a long way back in my photo roll. I decided they counted since looking for them whilst I was coughing and wheezing and feeling deeply miserable certainly lifted my spirits, however I’ve captioned them “from the archives” below so you can tell which ones they are.

A fully open blue/purple crocus with a vivid yellow stamen. The centre petal are paler then the outside ones and you can see the veins running through then, a darker blueish purple than the rest of the petal. The crocus is growing in a pot which also houses a clematis and it has grown through the clematis vines and their leaves surround it.

Part of Ightham Mote’s moat, water still as a mirror, is reflecting the blue sky and one of the bridges connecting the building to the bank. The Manor House, a mix of stone and Tudor wood, is on the left and the bank with trees and gardens is on the right. The curve of the bridge makes a perfect circle with its reflection.

A couple walk away from the camera towards the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. They are in a gravelled square with some circular formal planting in the centre. It is early March and the sky is a cold blue and they are well wrapped in winter coats and scarves.

Hardback indie bookshop version of Katherine May’s Enchantment sat on a crocheted blanket. The cover is deep night blue with pale blue and green leaves up the sides, a full moon in the upper right corner and two gilded butterflies on the leaves. The title, Enchantment, is written in gold capitals down the centre of the front of the book, and Katherine’s name is in smaller gold capitals across the very bottom. The text “Reawakening wonder in an exhausted age” is written in gold at the top right just below the moon. Moss covered rocks and fallen tree branches are surrounded by ferns and low growing leafy plants. In the bottom left of the picture is one small flowering plant, a summer snowflake, with three small white bell shaped flowers with green dots on the outside points of the petals (it looks like a cross between a snowdrop and a lily of the valley).
Seven very small, very golden crocuses are lined up and in sharp focus at the very front of the photo. Beyond them, in the blurry background, is grass, an apple tree and the orchard wall.

The end of a yew tree branch, all four sprigs covered in dark green needles. At the tips of the sprigs, nestling between the needles, are the creamy white ball shaped yew flowers. There are approximately eight blooms on each sprig.
